  1. yes if you practice practice practice!

    practice makes perfect.

  2. it depends on how much you train and how much you want it. keep in mind it's physically impossible for some people to get that low.

  3. it is all up to how you train it would be pretty tough to lose a minute though, but don't just listen to positive or just negitive it matters on how much you work at it!

  4. I had never run track until my junior year.  I started last year with a 5:07 mile and got a 4:40 mile, my senior year, this year, I plan to get a 4:10 mile.  Do you think you can run it?  If so, you have 4 years to train, be thankful you are so young.  Good luck.

  5. our school record is a 4:16, so good luck with that one buddy

  6. I think that is a definate possiblity. I've always been told for every pound you lose it's about 30-45 sec. off you 5K time. Soooo my guess is 10 pounds gone and you push really hard... yea it could happen. But im guessing scince you can already do a 5:20 mile, your pretty in shape and weight loss my not be the way you wanna go. But it is totally up to you. HOPE I HELPED

  7. Listen buddy, dont pay attention to these people who are saying that you cant do it.  Alan Webb ran a sub 4:00 mile in high school in 2001.  Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

If you ran a 5:30 mile before being a freshman, that is a very good start.  You are well on your way.  I see no reason at all why you cant get down to that if you work hard.  Listen to your coaches, and do some research on the internet about it.  One thing I'm telling you to do is: Dont burn yourself out, if you are planning on running in college.  One terrible thing to do is to overtrain yourself in high school, reach a goal, and then be burnt out for your future running career.

Other than that, your goal is definitely possible, you will just need to do lots of distance and speed training.  Good luck!

Edit:  I didnt run track until high school.  The first 800m I ran was in the 2:30 or 2:40 range.  Senior year I ran 2:04, and our 4x800 relay team got 5th in states.  Longer distance races are also easier to shave time off.  You'll do it!

  8. yes, if you keep practicing.

    Freshman too.

  9. No. You can run a fast mile now but that's because you're a freshman.  By the time you get to be a senior you will have discovered women and cheap beer so you will be too drunk & tired to run that fast.  You better beat it before then if you want a chance.
