  1. I'll deal with what I recommend (in the U.S.)

    The cost for Private Single Engine Land is about $7,000. More for additional ratings or different certificate.  The Private Certificate (it's not a license in the U.S.) will take 3 to 6 months, on average.

    And the answer is 'Yes', as long as you do the following:

    * Find a CFI. Ask him/her what they think. Listen, carefully.

    * Get your CFI to sign you up for a six month free membership to AOPA.org. This is not necessary, but will help you alot.  It's free...

    * Get your medical exam out of the way. For student pilot, you have to be 16 years old to get this. Your medical serves as your student pilot certificate.

    *Get your books - written study guide, etc. Your CFI will tell you what to get here. Start reading

    * Start training. I recommend scheduling 3 times a week to fly, and try to fly at least twice.

    * Start studying. You can study for your written online at www.sportys.com/faatest. It's free, and it's got the actual questions. You can even take a practice test timed, like the real thing.

    * Pass your Pre-Solo Oral and written - see your CFI for explanation.

    * Complete your Training and Pass your written exam

    * Pass your check ride.

    You're a pilot - congrats

  2. Yes why not.

    Check out the medical standards at this site

  3. Here is a few web sites for the US. It is basically the same. It will be cheaper more than likely to learn in the US and generally better weather for speeding up the training if that is what you want. Just off the top of my head $20-$25 will get you a commercial license but you need more than that for an airline job if that is your goal.

    That should give you an idea and open up many more questions.

  4. you have to phone up british airways or some airline company and ask for job vacancies. i'm sure they want good Aero graduates to take up flight training.

  5. Stick with aeronautical engineering. The pilot market sucks right now. Make money and fly your own airplane and dont be anyone's *****.
