Can i become a cop if i have aspbergers

It's been my dream to become a police officer all my life ,and the doctor recently told me i have a condition called aspbergers. But it's very very slight, and doesen't hardly affect me at all. So could I still become a police officer.

Asperger's is a social disability. If you seem to understand the motivations of other people and can handle social situations without severe anxiety, then it might be OK. If you have trouble with these things, then another helping profession will probably be better. Remember, police officers react with deadly force, so you wouldn't want to accidentally kill someone because you didn't understand the nuances of their behavior.

If you are Asperger's, you will probably get weeded out in the testing that is done before you are offered employment. How about being a park ranger or another occupation that doesn't involve a great deal of interaction with people yet still allows you to help others?

Because it effects your ability to read and respond appropriately to emotions in other people it may hinder your job performance. You would or should be evaluated for this before investing time & money.

People with Asperger syndrome tend to love routine and see situations as either black or white. They are also usually meticulous about seeing any job through to the end. If you really want to be a police officer then use your Asperger qualities to your advantage and not as a negative quality. Good luck.

I think you probably could.  ask if you can ride with police officers and see if you can handle the various situations.  a good officer needs a degree of emotional detachment, so having Asperger's might be in your favor.
