Can i become a cop with a felony record?

i have a felony weapons possession, and endangerment charge from 2002 is it possible for me to become an officer?

  1. Of course not.  Some misdemeanor convictions can be overlooked, but never a felony.

  3. no. BUT you can TRY. Judge Mathis had trouble with the law when he was younger and was denied entrance into the law world due to his criminal background. Fortunately he was able to bypass those issues and become a lawyer and than a judge. not everyone who has a past is a bad person. society is so quick to lock up people to "reform" them but so quick to turn thier back when they are looking for a job and trying to change. IF you have really and truly changed and policing is what you would love, then good luck.

  6. No, it is illegal for felons to possess handguns so you would be a cop without a gun.

  8. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms. That alone will disqualify you from  becoming a police officer.
