  1. since when do we need tickets for that? I grew up in germany and never bought tickets. You just go in the tent....have fun...;-)

  2. Bozo's right. You can book booths in tents, but they're mostly reserved years ahead. 2011 or 2012 isn't that bad a guess. But the "Wies'n", where the Oktoberfest takes place, is open to the public at any time free of charge. It's not an entertainment park. Just walk in freely. If you find a place in one of the tents, then that's fine, if you don't find one, try another, or have fun somewhere else on the area. Buy a fried chicken or a "Steckerlfisch" (grilled trout on a stick), or try the "Achterbahn" (rollercoaster) or something else you find interesting. The Munich Oktoberfest is lots of fun and a lifetime experience for those who haven't seen it yet.

  3. Yup, no tickets.

What you can do on opening day is to skip the opening parade and ceremony and go press your nose against the main door of a beer tent so that you might be the first one in. From there you will have to scramble for one of the unreserved tables when they open the doors. It is easier for smaller groups to find free spaces than for larger groups.
