Can i bring my bonsai back to life?

hi i my freind gave me a bonsia tree i have no idea what kind but he gave it to me becasue he was moving he told me it had been in his closet for 2 years. is thier anyway i can bring it back to life?

Make sure it gets some light in a place thats cool. And water it once a day.
