  1. Yes you can, but your halls of residence may not allow you to bring amps with you.

And of course you must respect your fellow flatmates e.g. not playing it at stupid o'clock in the morning!

  2. Your best bet is to contact your residence hall directly.  Different schools will have different policies regarding instrument practice in the dorms.  And in fact, even within a single school, it's not uncommon for different dorm buildings to have different policies.

Yes, you can certainly BRING your guitar, but there may (will) be restrictions on when you can play it.  Think of the music major who lives next door and wants to practice his trumpet in his room.  Obviously there will be limits on when/if he can practice in the room, and your situation is no different.

    Happy playing!

  3. Of course you can!

  4. Of course you can take your guitar.

The same rules will apply as to playing music and TV in the halls of residence.

Make sure you can lock it up when you are out.

  5. Of course you can. You can pretty much take anything (as long as it doesn't violate any rules) just make sure you don't play it too loud and annoy people with it!

  6. yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy...

  7. Yes, you can bring it. You still need to abide by quiet hours (no cranking up the Marshall stack at 3 in the morning).

The only downside I can imagine is that you might not want to bring your _best_ guitar, because things get stolen, beverages spilled on them, etc. in college dorm rooms. Maybe check some pawn shops for an okay guitar to take with you, if you have something really nice or expensive.

But bring it for sure, it will be a great way to meet people. An acoustic is probably going to make a lot more sense, much more portable, no amp to worry about plugging in, can pick up/put down much more quickly as you find a spare moment to play.

  8. No.

If you do the riot squad will be  called and you will be sent to prison for 5 years for the crime of bringing a guitar into halls.
