  1. You need to clarify what a doublewide is...check with your city/municipality (call city hall main line and they will steer you in the right direction)

    Good Luck!!

  2. are you planning on living in same build as day care? if so check your zoning laws.  some places have no laws about having a day care in homes but some do.

  3. My answer is similar to others.  One of our after school programs was in a double wide.  It just needs to meet code and licensing requirements.

If you are doing "home" childcare/preschool...at least in our state, you must be a resident of the home in order for it to be considered family/group home otherwise it's considered a center and you must follow center regulations/requirements.

  4. Your best bet is to check with licensing where you live. Preschools usually fall under daycare licensing. Here, a licensing officer will work with you from the very beginning, before you buy anything, to ensure that it meets all regulations. They will even go with you to look at the property or facility you are planning to buy.

The last day care I worked at in the U.S. was in a double wide. It did have to have some adaptations to meet licensing requirements, however. So, just check with them to be sure!

  5. You need to check with zoning requirements. Sometimes mobile units aren't permitted within a certain area.

Also, you will need to contact your local licensing agency. They will help you determine the proper square footage as well as other requirements. Most states have this on their websites.
