Can i buy my iphone at the apple store for the $199 then use my at and t sim?

I am not eligible for upgrade on my AT&T acct, but I want the new iPhone. How can I get it for the lower price? Can I buy it for $199 at the apple store?

The $199 price is not applicable for anyone who is not eligible for a phone upgrade. Therefor, you still need to sign up for a new 2 year contract to be eligible for the subsidized price.

Apple is now selling the iPhone for a very cheap price in the US because AT&T subsidized part of the total phone's cost. In return, buyers need to sign a new 2 year contract.

No you can't buy it for $199 until you are eligible. You can buy it for $399 though. Don't forget the data plan ($30/month).

Also the iPhone requires a new special SIM card so you can't just stick in the old one
