Yes, Prices vary due to quality and type. Heavy winter gloves for extreme cold cost more.  You can also get gloves at any sporting goods store.  For spring skiing I like to wear sports gloves.  they are light and more comfortable.  Driving gloves work as well, the kind with holes to breath.  Remember, conditions change.  many times I will actually have a couple of pairs of gloves with me.  If, for some reason, you are spending time on your A** and your gloves get wet.  you just change them off.  Just depends on the conditions!
