  1. you cant call and speak to a prisoner no. prisoners can only call out.

if you live in UK there is a site called emailaprisoner.com where you can email prisoners if you have their prison number. each message costs 30p and they should get it the same day if you send it in the morning.

    hope this helps

  2. No, you can write and ask them to call collect but they are not going to take someone out of a cell or work duty to have a phone call.   If you OK collect calls be aware that the calling privileges are limited so don't be hurt if you don't get a call right away. Collect calls from prisons usually have a fairly heavy surcharge besides the regular collect call fees.   In many states there are systems where you can make a deposit to an account for collect type calls to cell phones  I am not sure if MI has this.   There are fees for that too.

In an emergency - and it has to be a real emergency- one can call or better yet have a lawyer or a clergy person or hospital or funeral home call the warden or the chaplin.  However if this is abused there can be consequences for the prisoner and the person abusing it can be removed from the prisoner's call or mail list.

This list may be helpful to you it is a list of services for families of prisoners in MI http://www.fcnetwork.org/Dir2001/dir2001...  Some of these provide services to prisoners also.

  3. I believe that you can leave a message for a prisoner.  They don't stop what they are doing and deliver it.  But you didn't say that it was an emergency, so you will probably have to wait till he gets phone privileges. /

  4. NO.

You have to write them or they have to call you.  Try visiting them but you have to first write so they can add you onto their visitor list.

  5. Prisoners and call out but they can't receive calls. You'll have to mail him a letter until he can put you on his call-out list. Click here for the address and details: http://www.michigan.gov/corrections/0,16...

  6. In all prisons/jails you have to wait for them to call you.

Unless you know they are going to be in there for a long time, always call to check on the status, and to see if they will be transferred somewhere else. You can also call to find out visiting information too.

  7. have you thought about writing to this person.
