Can i cancel a plan on a cell phone i found?

ok so i found an htc touch p3450 in the park and it works and everything, but there is no info on it whatsoever, except for its phone number. i would return it but there are no contacts. i have decided i am keeping it, but i want to cancel its current plan because i dnt want to charge the guy who lost it a bunch of money?how would i do this? if i unlock it will it cancel the current plan?

  1. Keep it turned on for a while in case the guy calls it to find it.

    Without passwords or code numbers, I'd say your sol.


  2. The carrier will have the IMEI number of the phone, if you report it to them, they will find out you are in possession of a lost or stolen phone.

    So, your answer would be no.

  3. If the phone is locked how do you know there is no information on it? Sorry sweetie...I don't buy your story...I don't know how many phones my 14 year old son has found and turned back to their rightful owners, he has found at least 6 at the skate park alone and several at Football Practice...do the right thing.
