Can i carry an small, underwater camera while surfing?

Question

i'm thinking not...since it takes two hands to paddle and hold the board....but just of curiosity, has anyone taken pictures (of other surfers) while on the board himself/herself?

Wear a west suit top and stuff it in the back.  I have a digital camera with a strap that holds it too my wrist (GoPro Hero).  Works okay but resolution is not that great.  It's also a bit f a ***** to use when its big out cause I want to be sitting basically in the impact zone so I can get shots of my friends coming down the line, so I usually just end up free swimming with it.
