  1. it has to be checked into your luggage, and even then if your bag is checked it could be removed.

just leave it behind and buy a new one once you reach your destination :]

  2. as long as it is no more than 100ml of liquid i think it would be ok...

  3. Why do you need either one of them on the plane?

  4. they always take my cig lighter

  5. No the TSA forbids any fire-making devices on a plane such as flint, lighters, Matches, Etc.  They will confiscate it or before you go through security there is usually a place to leave your lighters.

  6. You can take common (convenience store) lighters onto planes in carry-on baggage.  "Torch" lighters, like Zippos, are prohibited.  Safety matches are also permitted in carry-ons, but strike-anywhere matches are not.  Check out the TSA website, www.tsa.gov, for more information.

  7. You can not take either one on board.

  8. You have to put it in your checked luggage.  I don't believe you can carry matches on board the plane, either.  Frankly, why would you need to.  All US flights are non-smoking.

  9. put it in your check in luggage and if they don't let you buy another one where your going.

  10. I carried regular lighter with me (not the torch kind, that's the one that's prohibitted) and I had no problem. But in some countries you will have to throw them out before you went thru security checks.

  11. It is in list of prohibited item pl. check in luggage.

  12. All of these fine folks are misinformed!

You can carry a lighter on-board a plane as long as it is not the "torch" type.

Several months ago the FAA lifted the ban on lighters.

I carry mine in my pocket and actually did even when they were banned.  I also carry an extra lighter in my brief case which always goes through the x-ray, and it is never a problem.

UPDATE:  People, check my link...you are all incorrect!  Lighters such as "bic" and matches have been allowed by the FAA and TSA for over 12 months...

  13. Matches......yes.......lighter.........n...

  14. Definately not. You'll have to buy a lighter or matches when you reach your destination.

  15. put it in your luggage and by a book of matches.
