  1. going between their place of storage and somewhere they can official be used yes, as long as you can prove it, for example to a karate hall (if that is where they are used), deffinatly not if you think it would be funny to use them, this is the same mentality of some people who carry knives, this is a slipperry slope of violence and is why we find ourselves with some the problems we have today.

  2. I think that would be effective... because they would be too busy laying down on the street laughing their @sses off to put up much or a resistance.

But in all serious, they are a bulky weapon to carry around, you would more like be stabbed while reaching and trying to pull them out.

Secondly, they are pretty much illegal as a weapon in most any place, so provided you do crack someone's head open, you may have a lengthy explanation to have to give in court, if you did get acquitted of any wrong doing, you would still have the illegal weapons charge to deal with, depending on what the officer decided to charge you with.

Seriously, I would fall over if a guy pulled out nunchaku on me, I would probably be laughing too hard to put up much of a fight...and would probably ask where Donatello or Leonardo was...

  3. Each city is different. For instance, here in Virginia Beach it's illegal to have flailing weapons, such as nunchucks, three section staffs, or flying weights. Funny thing is it's not illegal to sell or buy them.

Check you city website for laws and ordinances. It should have a section on weapons. The court will usually convict a martial artist before an untrained person in the event of a maiming or worse (no matter why it started), so take care. Also even if it is legal cops have a tendency to be more on guard with civilians with any sort of weapons than not. You may even be held up on the way to and from class.

Best policy; don't carry obvious weapons like knives, chucks, ECT. Unless you want to deal with allot of bureaucracy. When ever transporting your weapons, keep them wrapped up and in the trunk. This is the typical transporting ordinance anyway.

    Good luck

  4. only if they think you have reasonable reason to have it like if you were in full martial arts gear on the way to a competition, otherwise no you'd still get done for an offensive weapon (UK).

  5. what do you think?

  6. Don't be foolish.Plain and simple.Save yourself a beating and a fine and leave them at home or in the gym where they belong.

  7. I agree with judomofo about the guy falling down laughing. I also know of no where in the US where it is legal to carry them on the street.

I suspect that more then likely you would winde up knocking yourself out with them though.

  8. In most states, you can only carry it in some sort of a closed case or container designed for transport that does not allow you ready access.

An example would be a gym bag, a briefcase or some other container.

You must also have a legitimate reason for transporting it, such as taking it to or from a martial arts class.

  9. ok there guy, that's something you have to check with your local law enforcement, and if you live in a decent city they would most likely have a martial arts consultant in the department. I've been told they're stick tied together, if I happen to be good with them, oh well. I've also been told that I will go to jail for having them in my car within arms reach just like a gun. Both times I've been told by officers of the law, so you must talk with them if you plan on obeying the law. If you just want to be a Badass then I would suggest you just carry them around.

  10. Just go to the wrong neighbourhood and try it if your still alive or not in jail let us know how you got on.

  11. lol, if you weilded the nunchuk eversince you could walk and it feels like its part of your arm extension, then you have a god chance, but make sure its not super light.

but in reality, they are illegal in most states and you might catch the mugger by surprise but its highly unlikely that he'll stop longer than a second. you have to be super quick to either counter or run, which is wat i'd do since my skills arent that high up there yet to defend against a knife

  12. Have to check your local laws. In some places they are perfectly legal to carry if they are not concealed, but highly illegal most anywhere if they are concealed. Not my first choice in a self defense weapon, but could be quite useful in a pinch. You had better have a very good understanding of how to control them and attack with them because just swinging them around isn't going to do much. They are a very dangerous weapon in the hands of someone who really knows how to use them. I would highly advise trying to use them on a heavy bag for a while before I considered carrying them on the street for self defense.

  13. I'm not sure if you are aloud to but you will get shot no questions asked by a cop if they see you with it because they are so dangerous. One reason is they are A LOT longer than you think they are and just the force of them. So I wouldn't even think about walking around with them. And yes I'm in the US and that's a real law.

  14. It depends on the local laws.  They are illegal to carry in California unless you are traveling between a legitimate martial arts school and a tournament/demonstration.

  15. Nunchaku is NOT a legal weapon.

If you are a practising martial artist who studies nunchaku, you can transport it in your bag.

It is not legal in the sense that you are asking.
