Simple, create a new yahoo id.

You cannot CHANGE the id of your mail box.

Only alternative is to get a new id. There are better chances to get an id you like in www.ymail.com and www.rocketmail.com

These two are new domains of yahoo,with all facilities of yahoo.Only difference is that ,when you login,you need to give the full mail id.( eg.

[e-mail]).

But by creating a new id in yahoo, you will have to start everything right from the beginning.Why don't you try gmail? It has lot more easy ways. You can import contacts and other things from your old id, you have a bigger inbox size, the same gmail id can be used to access a variey of sites of google( orkut,picasawebalbum etc).
