Can i change the ammount on my 401 k plan?

im 18 this is my first time with the 401 k plan. i put $50 to take out of my paycheck every two weeks that i get my paycheck. i got my paycheck today with the minus 50 and i think its too much. i have a car paymeent to pay. can i tell my boss to change the amount to atleast 35 $??

you should not have a problem doing that

Your plan's document will state the timing of when you can change your election (i.e. quarterly, monthly, daily).  Ask you H.R. or Benfits depart for details.

You should be allowed to stop at any time, but you will probably be limited on when you can restart your contributions (i.e. quarterly, monthly. daily).
