Can i claim money off the father of my baby (through the csa) before the baby is born?

  1. Hopefully, you're thinking only to use the money to help get ready for the baby, and not spend it on yourself. No, you can't ask for any money until the baby is born, you do a paternity test, and you get a legal document saying he'll help you from a judge.

    You two could also simply work out an amount he would give you on a weekly/monthly basis without going to court, which could start before the baby is born. But for legal reasons that may occur later on, you if you work something out by yourselves, then make sure it's still in writing and that you save a copy.


  2. I don't think so because there is no proof that the baby is his until a paternity test is done.  You can ask him if he will help pay for furniture, clothes, etc., before the baby is born, but that will be only if he is a nice guy.

  3. No, you can't get child support until after the baby is born and paternity is established.
