I am a 15 year old girl and i would like to be able to compare my running times. None of my friends are into running, so i have nothing to compare my times to and was wondering if i had a talent in running.

The most recent time i got in 1500m was 5.26mins

and for a 4 mile road run (including hills) was 26.30mins

also i have have developed a liking to high jump and have just started to try it - so far i have got 1.35m - is this any good?

Thanks

  1. Yes.  There are multiple tables you can use to compare these performances.  The MacMillan running tables can compare the running but they won't work with the jumps.  I prefer the WAVA age graded tables.  For a 15 year olf girl

    1500 @ 5:26 scores 74.67

    4mile @ 26:30 scores 76.0

    high jump of 1.35m scores 72.19

    The 4mile is your best performance but they all are pretty close.  Scoring 75 and above requires a good bit of talent and training.

    Here's a rough interpretation of the WAVA number

    75 = varsity runner

    80 = district champ

    85 = semi elite (state champ)

    90 = national class performance

    95 = olympic athlete

    100 = world record performance

  2. An excellent online calculator for comparison of race times across a broad spectrum can be found here:

    There are others as well; search on "running pace calculator" or a similar phrase.
