  1. I think if the dvr has a digital tuner (can you change channels on it and the tv stays on cable 3 ??????) you can use the cable signal.  Run the cable right into the dvr "in" and plug 'em in and go!

  2. Hi fredmunt,

Sure, you can connect a DVR to your cable. You are using analog cable if you haven't got a set top box and that actually makes it easier.

You should use a splitter and run your cable to both your TV and DVR. Then run a set of composite cables (Red White Yellow) from the output of your DVR to the composite input on your TV.

By using the splitter you will be able to watch one channel on TV while you record a different one on your DVR.

  3. Not at all. First of all, without the cable box there's no guarantee the DVR is compatible with your TV. Second the expanded basic is fine, but even if the DVR worked with your TV, you'd  have to call your cable company and have them add the DVR to your account. Before doing this, make sure you are ready to give them the DVR serial number and mac address. The biggest point is to make sure they cable company added the DVR to your account. Unless you do this, it won't work.
