  1. you can do it. But please careful about the rating of the transformer.

  2. As long as you use A.C supply theoriticaly you can use it.But in practice we find efficiency is not that much good.

  3. Pure DC won't go through a transformer. And a chopper has losses, so you can't get away with chopping 3 volts onto a 3 volt winding, and get the full secondary voltage outright. Plus the secondary is put outside the primary for the best efficiency, and that is now backward, for two lossy situations. Adjust things to make it work out to your needs, or adjust your needs. Regards, Larry.

  4. yes, as long as you don't exceed the voltage rating of either winding.

Your sentence is garbled. But you can take a 220 volt to 12 volt transformer and apply 12 volts AC to the secondary and get 220 volts out of the primary.

    .

  5. Yes you can.  I've done it a couple of times.

Note, however, that the open circuit voltage of the winding which is supposed to be the secondary will be higher than the nominal voltage.  This is to allow for the inevitable resistive drop in the winding so that the nominal voltage will be present when the transformer is loaded to its specification.

The degree of change in the secondary voltage is expressed as the transformer's regulation; the lower the figure the better.

Using the transformer in reverse you need to increase the applied voltage to the secondary so that the nominal "primary" voltage will be present across the winding you are using as the secondary when it is loaded.

  6. yes, you can reverse the transformer. but make sure the transformer rating can handle the load.

example if your transformer rating is 440watts, your load must not exceeds

    (440w)/(220v) = 2 amp
