  1. Wow, good question!

The U of O specifications indicate you need either a VPN *or* support for WPA2.

(quote) If your system is WPA2 which is backwards compatible with WPA you will be able to use the University of Ottawa SSID marked as uOttawa-WPA.   If your system is not WPA/WPA2 enabled you will need to use the University of Ottawa’s VPN client.(unquote)

A VPN for the n810 exists...

    http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS200...

... but it's problematic if it will work with the university routers.

But the good news is we don't need to use a VPN as the n810 is indeed WPA2 compliant... I take this from the n810 user manual which you can find here... http://nokia.us/A4686322 ... and page 20 talks about security setup.

So, provided that when you're on  campus you connect to the SSID called "uOttawa-WPA" you should be ok - of course the university will need to give you the WPA passcodes for configuration.

I note you also need an Infoweb account... but the login seems to be pretty much vanilla HTML so I don't see that the n810 browser will have any problems logging into your account.

I can't be 100% certain but I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work... so yes, it *is* a guess (sorry about that) but I think it should be fine.

You may want to contact the U of O IT support to see if they're aware of anyone actually using the Nokia appliance on campus... that would give some definite confirmation.
