Can i connect wirelessly out of my home with my modem ?

i have a 2wire qwest modem and i bought it because i think it would let me connect anywhere but i called them and they said its only at home so is there any way i can do it instead of buying a wireless card that i hav to pay another bill for?

  1. yes if you know how to let the firewall allow your other wireless network devices.


  2. Do you mean bringing the modem to another location and plugging it in and getting online? This, I guess is possible. But if only there is service in the area you are going to. For example, if you have comcast, and use the modem at home fine, but bring the modem to rhode island, for example, whih has no comcast, you cannot connect, etc.

  3. if you ony got the one pc ok but if you have more you going to need a router, that will do wireless or cable or combo, and a TX/RX card for your pc connect : internet>modem>router>pc's wireless or cable or combo, straight cable if you use it. Router should be rated higher speed than your internet speed , and if you go wireless, encrypt and password protect your internet form others
