I know you aren't supposed to reheat prawns and so should buy the greyish blue prawns if cooking.

But I've seen friends putting the little pink prawns into an omelette, or on to a barbeque, stir fry etc and they don't get ill!

I'm not keen on eating the prawns cold but I'm too scared to cook them in any way in case they make me ill. Confused!

  1. I am wondering where you got the idea that they would make you sick if you heated them???

Anyway, grey/blue are not cooked, pink are already cooked.  Heating them, saute-ing them, etc., will not hurt anything, but as others have said over-heating them can make them chewier.

I saute the pink ones in butter with garlic and serve over noodles all the time.  YUMMY!

  2. no answer but an advice

    never eat prawn again

they have a bacterium which can cause cancer

  3. Shrimp/prawns can be reheated, but they get extra firm.  They only need cooking for a few minutes to be done the first time.  I don't buy cooked seafood from the markets.  I like to do it myself.

It's fine, and you won't get ill from reheating prawns.  I do it all the time.

  4. Who told you you can't reheat prawns?  Do you know how many people in the world do this?  Anyway, you can reheat them just don't cook them too long, because they will be tough.  If you have the time and talent, may I suggest you do use the grey ones.  That way you can cook them yourself to perfection.
