Ive an iPod classic and the disk space is bigger than my laptops! Anyway it was cool for a while and silly me transfered all my cd's on here and then got rid of them moving house. I can back them up easily enough again but id like to delete the bulk of my itunes library from my computer to free up some room, trouble is anything i delete than deletes from my ipod next time i sync it and there doesnt seem to be anyway around this even with manually managing the account????

  1. ok, well usually a pop up appears on my computer saying that their is a song on my ipod that isn't in my itunes library would u like to transfer it to your library?  if i were you i would test it out on one song and c what happens.  preferably 1 that you own on a cd.

Edit: if it doesn't have a pop-up then umm....oh, i don't know.  maybe you can find some way to rearrange the way you  transfer songs.  sorry  that i couldn't help.

  2. i had that problem too. i just bought a portable hard drive and transfered all my music files to that.

  3. You can delete it from iTunes and keep it on your ipod as long as you dont want to update it again, because the next time you sync it, and that song is not in your itunes, it will not be on your ipod either.

  4. yes.

unless your ipod is plugged in and you take the music off the section that has all the songs on your ipod, they wont be deleted.

just delete it from the library
