  1. Sorry, you are not able to drive C+E ( class 1) until you have first passed 3 tests. Firstly you will have to take a test at 7.5 tonnes (C1) then a "Rigid" test - 4, 6, or 8 wheel vehicles up to 32 tonnes (C) then the "Artic" or "Draw Bar" (C+E) 44 tonne +, the "old " class 1. Once you have passed these tests, as long as you keep your entitlement up to date you will be able to drive ALL classes up to, and beyond  retirement age. Once you have passed a test at the lower weight, there is nothing stopping you applying for the next one up - no minimum time limit. There is not a great deal of difference between C1 & C ( class C is wider & heavier) as they are both rigid vehicles and handle in a similar fashion. The only stumbling block is financing each set of lessons& tests - £1000 plus for each level. Your best bet would be for you to approach well known transport companies in you area, and see if they would be willing to take a chance and train you up. The majority WILL require a commitment from you to stay with them for a number of years so they can recoup the initial outlay in training you. If you do make the grade, welcome to a life of long hours, stress, - relatively low pay. BUT as I say, truck driving is better than sitting on my backside, & staring  out of the window all day!! LOL

  2. Pinch one for a night and find out

  3. Sign up to a HGV driving school  you need the school to brush up on your bad habits as you havn't passed your car test long,no harm in talking to the school and get all the advice you can off them to save you money Join the army and let them pay ....

  4. There is a class 1 and class 2 test you have to take, you have to be able to drive a 17tonne for a year before you can go on to the big boys.  You have to gain experience befor they let you drive artics

  5. hi, if you pass the medical and theory and the c class and then c+e, you can navigate a artic, the true driving skills come later(i know), and i think there is a new cpc exam on the way for new drivers.

lgv driving is test+cost+test+cost+cost+ & the cost just goes on, digicards, night out kit,

but its the best job out there,

best contact a training school for the initial outlay and assessment, and the first jobs the hardest.

  6. when you say HGV, what weight are you referring to? quoted from the DVLA website : "If the vehicle has a maximum authorised mass, which exceeds 3.5 tonnes, but not 7.5 tonnes then a category C1 licence is needed. If the maximum authorised mass exceeds 7.5 tonnes then a category C licence is needed."

if you are still unsure, i would phone/email the DVLA to make sure you are holding the correct licences.

  7. think you might have to have held license for about 1yr.  Ask  truck driving school. Once you have license you have to convince empolyers to let you loose on 1!!!!  why ?      do you want to drive for a living?

  8. I took my coach (D) test without having to take a minibus (D1) so I assume you can do the same and go straight to class C (over 7.5 tonnes) without having to take the C1 (3.5 - 7.5 tonnes) once you have your C you can then take C+E which means you can drive BIG BIG BIG lorries!!! have fun!

  9. It depends which class you pass, theres two.

  10. I think that you will find that you have to pass your class 2 first before taking a class one. PS i hold a class 1 HGV

  11. no
