I have an old police car that is retired and wanted to know if it is legal to drive it on the street. Because i don't want to be driven in town with it and be arrested for Impersonating a cop.

  1. Yes you can as long as it has all of the police decals and lights removed........and it is registered, inspected and you have insurance.

  2. I used to work as a trainer for a taxicab company.  We boughty many of our cars from the California Highway Patrol, who auctions them off after about 100 thousand miles.  We like those cars because, as Highway Patrol vehicles, virtually all of those miles are relatively easy freeway miles.

Anyway, the vehicles are sold in small lots of five to ten.  So, when we bought them, we had to get a crew together to pick them up from the CHP office, about a hundred miles away from our office.  It was great fun to caravan back home with these black and white cruisers with the big, pursuit engines.

Everytime I participated in one of these caravans, I noticed that the traffic ahead tended to get out of our way, as they saw us approaching in their rear view mirrors.  We found that we could cruise along at eighty miles per hour, rarely being slowed down by any traffic in front of us.  Of course, we did get quite a few dirty looks as we came past.

  3. I sagest that u get it painted over. i know that costs a lot of money but it's more cheaper then buying a new car. And it will look better also

    I HOPE THAT HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Only if you paint out  badges.name police, and anything connect to police.
