  1. You can not take an untaxed car on the road unless you have trade plates which count as road tax paid for the vehicle they are  on at the time.

I often saw people who had bought cars at a car auction being pulled in by police as they left the auction . So it is better to buy it then make it legal before removing it from the premises.

  2. At one time insurance was enough to get you home or to a test center if required however the money grabbing government insists on road tax from the time you buy the car which can be inconvenient for the buyer. They don't give a d**n as long as they get your money!

Not many complain so nothing is being done about it! That is what puts the great in GB, you get screwed on a daily base, end up saying 'Thanks' and are made to think it's the best place on earth!

  3. dont be stupid

  4. NO, not legally. Any car used on the public highway must be both taxed and insured.  It is obviously up to you if you want to take the chance. At this time of year there are a lot of Police cars sitting by roadside etc watching for infringements and as it is light until 9.30pm an untaxed car is easily noticed.

It is a great pity you cannot buy a single Day/Week tax coupon from Post Offices for this sort of situation.

  5. Yep but you'll get caught by the DVLA!!!

  6. Depends how far you want to drive it.

If you are caught you not only will be done for no tax, but also no insurance.

  7. YES...but only to the nearest mot station that you have rang and booked in for a mot, must still be insured..

  8. No. When I bought my car there was o tax on it and I had like a 4 day grace period to get it taxed.

They're not gonna care where you got it.

  9. I found this one it is pretty good.

  10. no you should se if you can borowe some trade plates

  11. Did you mean to say ' about '? Auctions are public and unless the owner of the auction has a clause in his insurance that allows vehicles with driver testing on the land then the answer is no. Normally though no-one takes any notice if you test drive a car within the confines of the auction - just hope you haven't hit another car because then it becomes complicated and drawn out! Best of luck to you.
