Can i drive in california if i have my country's drivers license?

im a tourist in california, can i drive with my country's drivers license and not to go thru any written or behind the wheel tests?

  1. not really, but you can apply for an international driver's license.

    check with your embassy or even the local DMV, you may be able to immediately get a temporary driving permit.

As long as you are a tourist (meaning you are not a permanent resident and don't have a job) you can drive in California on your foreign license for up to 1 year after arrival.  You must carry your passport as well, and an International Driving Permit or a certified translation if your license is not written in English.
