She starts uni in 2 weeks and cant take her car with her. She cannot afford the £80.00 a month to insure it so plans to leave it on our drive whilst she is away. It has a valid mot and tax disc but can i use it. I have my own car and insurance policy and am able to drive other cars 3rd party but her car will have no insurance of its own. The car is a fab and sound run around and she doesn't want to sell it as she will need it when she comes home in December.

  1. depends on trade insurance or if you have a fleet policy the 2nd car doesnt need insurance

but normaly yes it does need to b insured

check with dvla online just to make sure !!!

  2. No you can't use it, the word UNINSURED should be your first clue!

  3. I don't think that you can, seeing as how your insurance policy applies to your vehicles and not hers.

  4. if you have a rider ( thats a insurance term ) that allows you to be covered in any vehicle you drive yours or not , yes you would be covered

  5. Well the answer here in California would be no. Each vehicle is required to have insurance. In fact you can't even register a vehicle without insurance. And if you cancel your insurance the registration will be suspended. But in order for you to put insuarnce on the vehicle you would need insurable interest ie: your name on the title. So I would say no. But I don't know the laws were you are. Call the Department of Motor Vehicles or your insurance agent. They will help.

  6. YOu are not the only one,I have met this type of  problem before.I have good experience here to solve the problem though.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...
