Can i duplicate my current license plate number?

Question

i lost my other plate..so i have to get a new one. what should i do?

im here in CA. so i guess i have to go to DMV. i just want to know what i should possibly bring when i get there. i just visited their site but im confused. i only saw 'replacement for plates'..i dont think thats my problem coz i dont need a replacement. i just want to have a duplicate..

I had the same problem years ago.  They gave me a new set.  They don't have the facility to order one new plate, at least they didn't then.  It's more trouble than just giving you a new set.

I'm not sure about Ca but in many states, they will just issue a new set, not just a duplicate of your old one.  You would need your title and registration to get plates.
