Can i earth my wall lights to a plug socket as i have no earth on my light circuit?

If you're certain you have a ground at your plugs just because it has a ground prong hole does't mean you have a ground connected to it.Remove the outet and see if you have a green or solid copper wire atatched to the screws in the back then it is possible otherwise you're accomplishing nothing by doing it

It would work in practice, but it would not comply with regulations.

You'd be better to update your wiring on your lighting circuit to bring it up to spec.
