  1. Firstly, as stated earlier, fish are thinking, feeling creatures just like mammals and even insects. They definitely feel physical pain and psychological distress as well. Once caught by man their death is worse than that of farmed land animals. Cows and chickens receive deaths that range from instantaneous (decapitation, bolt to brain) to slow and painful (throat cut). Fish however always suffocate for several minutes and sometimes much, much longer.

Secondly, pescetarians as quoted by multiple sources are NOT vegetarians. A vegetarian does not eat meat of any kind and fish is meat. It is a common misconception and people that claim to be vegetarian that eat fish are kidding themselves. To claim to be a pescetarian-vegetarian is the equivalent of saying you don't do any drugs but smoke weed from time to time.

  2. It depends why you're a vegetarian. I don't eat meat because of environmental issues but I still eat fish because they don't take up any land. It's your decision so you shouldn't let anyone else decide for you. Being a vegetarian is a personal choice and it's not up to other people to define it.

  3. being a vegetarian is a moral choice...you really should make that decision for yourself based on your values

  4. First off, those people are incorrect in thier reasoning. Fish do have a central nervous system and a brain. Vegetarians do not eat animal flesh (fish counts as an animal). Pescatarians do eat fish, but no other flesh. Basically, you're correct.

  5. Fish do have brains. They are definitely conscious and will do everything in their power not to get caught and to get back into the water once they are caught. That is why sport fishemen enjoy the battle so much when they are pitting their wits against the fishes. So to answer your question fish are not scaly vegetables.  Fish is still meat. No, vegetarians do not eat it.

  6. it's so called fish-vegetarian

  7. You are correct, a vegetarian doesn't eat any meat or sea"food". People sometimes consider themselves to be vegetarians even though they eat fish or shrimp or clams or whatever, but by definition a vegetarian doesn't eat any of these things. I'm listing several sources below that define vegetarianism so that you can check them out.

Also, fish do in fact have brains and can actually feel physical pain. Fish are typically gentle creatures who deserve to be free to live their lives.

  8. nope vegetarians don't eat ANY kind of meat if you eat fish your a pescatrian but then your not vege

  9. fish do have brains and if they have a brain then that means they can suffer.

  10. fish can suffer because they do have brains but there memory is only 2 seconds so they forget what happens in 2 sec. But dont abuse Gods gift. He gave us meat and plants for a reason......
