Can i feed my green anole dried mealworms?

i can't find any live ones to buy where i live. the petstore only has kingworms. its nothing urgent i just want to have something else nutritious in their diet

  1. Growing your own mealworms from beetles is not difficult, if you have some starter worms. I've raised them in the past and now lots of online info is available. Dried would be okay in a pinch, but fresh is better. Part of what they need is the live food, for stimulation. Vary the bugs you give him, which may mean going out and catching a few crickets, beetles, ants, etc. You could also construct a cage where it is possible he could get on a grassy area or a houseplant, where some tasty morsels might lurk. Make sure he has proper sunshine as well.  


  2. as long as they have can have a drink of water after they eat, i don't think there's anything wrong with giving them dried mealworms. i just catch grasshoppers for my anoles, though.

  3. They're native to where I live, and eat live insects/worms, so I'd soak the dried worms first.
