i dont have a bike pump and the closest thing i have is an lpg tank used for barbeques, or the lpg tank out of my car, im not about to go disconnecting my fuel pump system to fill the bike tyres with oxygen whilst i can easily fill it with gas instead, using the bbq gas tank (i think its propane actually, but as with the lpg from my car itll turn into gas when it gets into the tyre) is there any dangers, since lpg and propane are both highly combustable if i hit a rock and the tyre pops will my bike explode? dont tell me to buy a pump cause riding with a bike full of gas seems a pretty cool idea right now

  1. Propane in it's natural state is a gas. It's temp would be the ambient environment temp. NOT -160.

    Yesh...

Anyway, novel idea, give it a shot, see how it goes!

  2. I seriously doubt it would be dangerous unless you were driving around a lot of fire. However, if you *did* fill your tires with propane, and *did* happen to explode, and you *did* happen to get hurt... Jesus, you would seem like an idiot.

But if you can live with that, I don't think the danger is that big.

  3. HA HA HA i have never heard of that b 4 you could fill it with gas or propane "if you really wanted to" As of the dangers you will not blow up or anything, unless you are riding so fast you bike tire catches on fire ha ha.  but on the serous side the gas from the heat of the pavement and outside heat might cause the tire to expand, but not blow up.  BUT GOOD LUCK

  4. Here is one plus for you on the molecular level propane is bigger than normal air.  The tubes on your bike will let normal air thru the rubber over time.  Thats why planes use nitrogen the molecules are bigger too.  Also some pro bike teams, NASCAR, and others use nitrogen instead of regular "air".  So the plus would be your tires would stay inflated longer.  And like everybody else said unless you are going like 200 kph I doubt you will heat the tires up enough to expand or even explode plus you would need an ignition source too.

  5. Yeah, try it. There wouldn't be enough to cause more than a poof like starting up a grill. And I don't know what that dude is talking about 160 or something below zero??? Maybe that's natural on Mars but not on Earth pal.

  6. propane at its natural state is 160 below 0 so i doubt you want to use that

  7. That would be a neat trick. Be sure to video record yourself while riding because I'd like to see the explosion on YouTube. :)
