Can i find out if my friend got a ticket by the license plates?

i sold my car to a friend, let him hold on to the plates, but got them back. now im wondering if he got any tickets, whould it affect me? where can i find out this type of info by the plates?

If he got parking tickets or such, probably. Check with your states DMV.

The only possible tickets that could come back to you are parking tickets, or photo radar tickets, that can cost money, but do not go on your driving record.  I presume you kept proof of the sale date (copy of dated and signed bill of sale) which you can produce if necessary.  One should never let purchaser keep plates longer than the drive home, except in those countries that tie the plate to the car forever.

No.  Any citation would go on his driver's license.  All the plate tells is the make, model, owner, etc., that the tag is registered to.

if you can get his drivers licence number you can get a report from your local Motor vehicle dept.
