  1. Set up a Facebook profile and add the 'Golf Game' application.  You can put in your scores from most courses in the world, inc. number of putts.  It then generates all kinds of statistics for you including a handicap.

If there isn't your local course on the system just email them the name and the guys add it within 24 hours, I've done it once and was amazed how quick they responded.

It isn't official or anything but it's a brilliant way of keeping track of your handicap and scores for people who can't afford to join a club.

  2. You have a couple different options.

    1) Go to your local course (even your local municipal/daily fee track) and sign up for a handicap. It will cost approximately US$20-$40, depending on the course and where you're located. Ask the course if they're a member of GHIN, which is a nationwide network. No big deal if they're not, but GHIN is pretty well recognized. The course will typically have a computer for you to post your scores; some setups will allow you to post scores from your home computer.

    2) There are some online websites that are approved for official USGA handicaps. Golfserv is probably the most common. If my memory serves me, they charge around $15.00 per year (go to Golf.com; it's through their network).

If you're playing in a specific tournament or series of events, check with the tournament(s) in question to see if they accept handicaps from online sites, and if they do, which one(s) do they accept. Better to ask now than be DQ'd later.

  3. if you go to the score tracker page you can enter you scores and you can get a handicap certificate.

  4. IF you are interested in participating in a Tourney, please bring your latest 5 scorecards.  The committee will give you a handicap based on that.

  5. Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps

  6. yeah....through an approved social group. can't recall the info source. Maybe the AGU site..

  7. yes there is websites that you can join and you record your scores there and they update your handicap for you.

don't know sites but if you do a google search for golf handicaps i'm sure something will come up.

  8. yes and no, depending on where you are.

Here in Europe, you can join the national golf associations in the respective countries and they will track your handicap after you have submitted the required games played, with a handicapped partner but not a pro.

    Sorry, not sure in USA.

  9. Why can't you give yourself one? pick a number whatever you think is truthful?

  10. yes-many courses have a ha a have a handicap computer and for a small fee you enter your scores and establish a handicap.

  11. Yeah there are loads of sites which will do it for you, 2 fore 1 is one, and todays golfer do one aswell

  12. If you're just interested in keeping track of your socres to determine what your handicap index would be, you can use the yahoo handicap tracker. But this would not be accepted if you wanted to play in a local amateur tournament.

To get an official USGA handicap, you need to be a member of a"golf club". This is NOT the same as a "private country club".

According to USGA handicap rules, you only need 10 people to form a "club".

Under the rules, there needs to be a reasonable chance that the members of the club will play together occasionally. This way, you can know if somebody is sandbagging.

  13. You must keep your score for about 10 rounds of golf and depending on how far the average score is from par is your handicap. So ofcourse you can.

  14. John F is right on.  Without being a member of a "golf club", your scores are not eligible for peer review.

  15. No. To gain a handicap you must hand three cards in. and when you get a handicap you get a certificate which is signed by the club secretary . You may also be asked to show your certificate when you play as a guest when you visit a golf club.
