Can i gain residency in jpan if my stepfather adopted me at age28. he is a japanese but died 2 years ago?

i have a japanese nstepfather who adopted me and my brothers a year before he died of cancer. we are already above 18 ( like 25,26,28) at the time of adoption. but we were listed in hid koseki tohon ( family register). Is it possible if wecan acquire residency or special permit for residence in Japan? thankyou.

  1. Ask at the embassy I know you will need a visa, which you may have to go to Scotland for, as my Sister-in -law is Japenese , she has just moved back out there with the children { all born over here } but my brother- in- law, had to get a visa, he is going next month
