  1. yes you can.

i have a few family members fly over here that way.

the only thing they check at the airport is your visa validity.

  2. A tourist visa lasts for 90 days.

What you need to do is buy a ticket from home - Australia then Australia - Thailand. This will prove your intent to leave Australia. However if you wish to return to Australia after Thailand you will require an additional visa to do so.

  3. The government site :

    http://www.immi.gov.au

has just about every possible answer to every possible question regarding coming to Australia.

Don't waste your time writing to Australia House, this is why the website exists.

Watch your timescales here. Tourist visas are, I believe, only valid for a maximum of 90 days.

  4. Generally authorities want you to have a return ticket on a tourist visa. This is done so that people do not overstay their visas.

  5. Well one of the requirements for applying for a Tourist visa is that, you must have an “incentive to return”. You must also have sufficient funds to cover the trip :)

With this visa, you can travel around Australia for a short period of time (up to 12 months). You can also try the electronic visa for Australia. Of course it depends on which country you'll be coming from, check out the requirements here http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/visitor/... it only takes minutes for approval.

  6. dont know  you would have to write to Australia house, they should be able to inform you.
