Can i get a car from japan and use it in New Jersey?

I am going to purchase and rhd nissan skyline 5 speed from japan and have it shipped over here to new jersey. Will i be able to use it in new jersey and have it registered and be able to title it and ride it on the street? if any one can help me please let me know a.s.a.p

  1. I believe you can, like it isn't really low, or small, or something not allowed to drive on the street.


  2. Depends on what year it is.  Gray marketing has been illegal in the USA since 1988, but the Skyline is the most special case of all special cases.  Read this very carefully:

    Read it until you get to the Skylines

    If it's new, then go with what Roadhunter sez.

  3. Yes, and Nissan has a service available to assist you with this.  I recommend ordering it from Nissan directly, before you take your trip, and they will do most of the paperwork for you.

    If you just go into a dealership in Japan to buy one, you will have a lot of work ahead of you.
