I heard that when i reach 17, i am entitled to a provisional driving license, free of charge, although there is no mention of this on the application form.

Can someone clear this up for me please? Thanks.

  1. hah you wish! how would they make money?

    you have to pay!!

  2. If you are receiving the full  d.l.a. then you can apply for your provisional licence at 16, sit a test and pass it.  If not, then you need to wait till your 17 years old.

Now a days the set up is as follows.

You pay for and receive your provisional licence ( £50.00 if memory serves me) on passing your test the examiner will ask you if your home address is the same as on your licence.  If so, then he will take your licence and you will receive you FULL driving licence about 2 weeks later.  There isn't a FREE licence as you are paying for both of them.  All the best .

  3. you have to pay for it from day one also provide a picture

  4. you pay for your provisional but when you pass your new full license is free

  5. No you can only get a free provional at 17 if you receive higher rate mobility component of DLA

  6. It's going to cost £50, the only exception is the first answer form The Joker.
