i'm thinking of homeschooling my bub. but i'm not too keen on the program available in my country. it's not even a popular option here.

so... like online education for grad students, i was wondering if i could get homeschool programs from the western world and teach that to my kid (substituting my country's history for social studies and such.)

  1. Many US curriculum companies will ship overseas; I'm in the US, so I can't speak for the companies in other countries, but almost all of ours will ship to Asia.

http://rainbowresource.com/index.php - pretty much anything you could ever want, at a discount, ships foreign airmail

http://www.sonlight.com/ - literature based curriculum, selected from basically a Christian standpoint, but easily adapted to other belief systems.  The literature is challenging, teaches life lessons and morals, not often openly Christian.

I'm not sure what age you're looking for, but this is a wonderful lit and research based curriculum that allows your child to read and research through history, without imposing a worldview.  It's meant for middle and high school, and covers world and American history.  (You can tweak the American history assignments to fit your country/region fairly easily, if you like.) http://trisms.com/

I'm not sure which worldview you're wanting to teach from, these companies are openly Christian and excellent resources:

    http://www.bjupress.com/webapp/wcs/store...

    http://apologia.com/

Again, I believe they will ship anywhere.

    Hope that helps!

  2. try www.k12.com They have an international academy now.  So take a look.

  3. hI, i THINK YOU CAN DO THAT? iM A HOME SCHOOL MOTHER BUT I DO THINGS MY OWN WAY.......OUR STATE IS VERY OPEN AND DO NOT NEED TO FOLLOW A CIRC. OF ANY SORT!

sorry bout the big caps anyway, you might want to search yahoo groups for your area or country to get some real inside info .......just go to yahoo groups and type in key words for home school in your country............some one should be able to shed some light on the subject

    ps, i love homeschooling!

  4. I highly recommend unschooling rather than a purchased curriculum.  It really would be ideal for your situation because you can incorporate anything of local interest.

Calvert has a good curriculum in a box up to 8th grade.  It is very school at home, but if that's what you want, it's a good choice.

    Good luck :D
