  1. Try Shoprite I got hired @ 14 there

  2. Your best bet is to go ask the places your interested in at what age they start hiring. Usually, places have an age minimum of 16, but there are some places where you can get a work permit at 14.

  3. You might be able to be a bus-boy at a restaurant.

  4. I would ask target if you can work there. I know you cant be a cashier your under 16. Im sure they have other positions there, go in and apply also ask what positions they have. Or try a supermarket you could be a bagger or work in groceries the only thing with groceries your not allowed to handle the garbage diposable emptier your under 18 for that. You could also mow laws for neighbors.

  5. Well, realistically there are a few rare jobs for a 14 year old, depending on whether you have connections or the job is in your age and qualification bracket.

You are NOT going to get a job at Target, or at K-FallapartMart, or at MaulWart.  Get that out of your head!!!!  Child labor laws put too many obligations and risks in the employer's court ! ! !

Where a fourteen year old MIGHT get a legitimate job would be in a local small business where you are shown sympathy by someone who either knows you or who knows your family.

A small mom-and-pop store might let you bag groceries or stock vegetables, for instance, or sweep up or get grocery carts in the parking lot.  But maybe not.

If your dad is real important in the community, maybe a construction company foreman might let you wash off his equipment with a hose provided you can do it and keep out of the way of the equipment rolling around!

    Things like that.

But there are reasons why MOST employment will not allow for anyone under the age of 16 at the very least, and probably you will not find any such employment until you are at least 18 years old. When I worked at Jack-In-The-Box all employees in the basic cooking area had to be at least 17.

As Frank Sinatra used to sing, "That's life!"

  6. I know that IHOP allows you to work at 15, but I'm not sure about 14. Check your local grocery store to see if you can work at checkout.

  7. Yes you are allowed to get a job at 14 years old.  You have to obtain a school work permit and are subject to special hours not  to exceed more than 20 a week, and or after 9 pm at night.

In some states, for example New Jersey, permits are only required for minors 14 and 15 years old, while others such as Massachusetts require, at least in theory, work permits for all minors up until they turn 18 years of age. In states that require permits for 16 and 17 year olds, enforcement is not always strict, although sometimes it is. Permits are usually issued through the school system the minor attends, and typically at a minimum, enrollment in high school with regular attendance (no chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy) is required as a condition for obtaining the permit. Some states such as New York and Indiana require high school students with part time jobs to maintain a certain grade point average. Minors who are working are usually restricted in the number of hours each day or week they are permitted to work as well as the types of jobs they may hold.

And Mr. Green Party at the bottom, I started working at 14 so it's possible.
