  1. No you can't use your parents SSN you'll get them deported. Do like some kids do and mow lawns or something like babysit. Lots of ppl want that and it's hard to find ppl to do that stuff.

  2. No my little brother had the same thing happen to him all you need is 2 forms of I.D. and go the the social security office and you'll be fine

  3. Your Mom should try to get your status arranged to permanent resident or citizen right away. Soon, you will be an adult and then really need to work and have sufficient i.d. The only thing you could do, would be odd jobs like babysitting that don't require i.d. necessarily. There are a few places that will employ people without sufficient i.d.; you get paid in cash usually rather than by check. It is called "getting paid under the table". But it is not a good thing to do long-term. Make sure your Mom helps you soon, before her visa expires.

  4. You may be able to get an SSN of your own depending on the kind of visa your mother is here on, but you'll have to check. If she's here on an H-1B for example, then that means you're an H-4, meaning no SSN for you, and no authorization to work, either.

DO NOT use your mother's SSN.

  5. Whoa!  You are on a dependent's visa?  Or your mom has (or had) a valid visa and managed to slip in the whole family?  If you have no valid visa yourself, you are an illegal alien.  If you are here on a dependent's visa, no authorization to work and no Social Security number for you.

You cannot work without an SSN, and since you are under 18, you also would require a Work Permit from the state Dept of Labor.  But to get that, you need to prove your age (birth certificate), and as a foreign national, need to show a valid visa with authorization to work, and your SSN, and your parent must have proper ID and sign your permission to work.   You are strung up six ways from Sunday.  No job for you.

If you use your parents' SSN, that is identity theft and fraud -- jail and deportation for you and your parents.

  6. it's funny both my children are citizens including my hubby and I.. My 17yr old son has been trying for months to get a job and he can't get hired.... He's an honor roll student with a GPA of 3.9.... people are in the US illegal and working and my child can't find a job.... WHY ?????...this pisses me off.......bd

  7. no~ you NEED a social security number to work in the united states.

ALSO...you are too young to legally work, 16 is the age to start working for a real company.
