Can i get a license in California when I am 17 1/2 without waiting the six months after i get my permit?

  1. To get a license in California, you need to either be 18 full years old, or have held a permit for 6 months, whichever comes first.

    If you are over 17 ½ but under 18 years of age, you may get your permit without the driver education and driver training certificates however, you will not be able to take the driving test until you turn 18.

    From 17 and a half to 18 is 6 months.
