i am at the moment on benefits as i had a bad accident and i am slowly getting better....i am currently on incapacity benefit.

I have always wanted to move to spain as i have spent a lot of time over there...

i will need a mortgage of about 60 percent.

i intend on working when i get to spain as i will no longer get benefits, and by the time all this is arranged i should be better health wise.

Can i get a mortgage? if so how?

thanks in advance

  1. As you are only looking for  60%, mortgages are available without proof of income, but they are usually at a slightly higher rate than the norm.

I would advise you to rent for at least a few months anyway so that you can look for your property without rushing things, and be able to shop around for the best deals. Visit banks and mortgage brokers, or go on line and search in your chosen area

Be prepared to pay approximately 11-12% on top of the asking price of the property for different legal fees etc and make sure you are able to work out here before committing yourself to such a big debt.

If you need any help on where to start  please feel free to email me

  2. is because you are moving to spain that you think you will not get your benefit if so your wrong i have lived in spain for four years and receive benefit as long as you tell the dhss and be honest with them you will be entitled to full medical care and if nesassrey they will arrange medical check ups in spain

  3. Bankinter have just released a new mortgage deal for people who have no proof of income.

    They advertise :

    * Interest only mortgages

    * Up to 30 years loan (no age limit)

*Self Certification (No P60's, no pay slips)

*Simple quick and all in English.

    Their phone number 901 523 523  OR

0034 916578871 (if calling from abroad).

We bank with them and have found them very helpful and friendly.

You say you want to work in Spain.  It is not that easy to get work here.  If you are lucky enough to find employment, expect to get paid a lot less than in the U.K.

Having said that, Spain is a great country to live in and I would not return to the U.K. from choice.  Good luck with your venture.
