Can I get a ticket if im parked infront of my driveway?? We have 2 cars in the house and the driveway only holds one car and since im the son i get the road. So one half of the month we park on one side of the road and the other half we park on the side with my house, so i figure ill always have a parking spot on my side when the parking is on that side cause im just blocking in my step dad and im not on the sidewalk. Last week the guy across the street told me i cant cause im blocking an enterance way, but the real reason is because is wife donesnt know how to turn her wheel when she backs out of their drive way, so she goes straight out. So i was wondering can i get a ticket??

  1. As long as you dont live in like a gated community where its a tow away zone if you park on the street. But if your on your property you can park wherever you want i suppose.

  2. is you dont havea parking validation sticker, yes

  3. i do i live in california witht he same situation and no its your house and youre not violating anything, if you get a ticket the person who gave it to you is an idiot. you can always fight tickets in court, but in your case you wont even get a ticket

  4. I think it depends on your local ordinances

  5. depends on any posted signs, fire lane or hydrant, blocking access for emergency vehicles, facing the wrong direction. you really have to check with local laws

  6. Here in NJ, it is illegal to park in front of a driveway WITHOUT the owner's permission. Since it is your  house, I'll assume that you gave yourself permission!

The rules may be different in your state.

  7. no u cant

  8. Possibly, if only inadvertantly.  A patrolman has no way of knowing that you live there, unless he runs a check on your plates.  One may just write a ticket, or worse, tow your car.

It sounds like you're flirting with a fender bender.

I've seen that happen while parked directly across from another driveway.

  9. i have gotten out of two parking tickets because the officer made a mistake on it. Look for a mistake, there is always a mistake on a parking ticket, if there is a mistake you inform the court and they will take away the parking ticket

  10. it depends on the state and city . Best to call the locals and explain the situation. Make sure you get the names of the police worker that gives you the info. I live in Austin and it isnt illegal, but I have recieved one in Houston

  11. Usually police only ticket a blocked driveway if someone calls them.  However, technically it is illegal, so if a cruiser goes by, they could ticket you.

I don't know where you live, but in California it's a violation of California Vehicle Code section 22500-e.

  12. depends on your towns ordinances I would guess...

    My assumption is NO however...

  13. It depends on your town. Technically you are not supposed to block a driveway for safety purposes (fire, paramedics, etc.) but i know in my town, you can contact the local police and let them know if you are parking on the street.

  14. I don't see why, I mean you're parked in front of "your" driveway. Someone at YOUR address would have to complain in order for you to get a ticket. Your neighbor is an idiot...and that's my professional opinion.

  15. You shouldn't be able to. Unless you have a fire hydrant in fron or a yellow curb then it should be okay. :)

  16. If you're in NSW you definitely can be issued with an infringement. It's nothing to do with the fact that it's your driveway, or you know that no-one's going to need to leave soon.

It's for safety reasons. For example, If the police or fire brigade need to access your property, they generally park in your driveway. (I know from personal experience, that most of the time they park on the street, but that's irrelevant).

The police will issue a fine if you block the driveway, even partly blocking it.

  17. yes, you can, simply because if there was a need for an emergency vehicle to get into your home, it could not.

you cannot block an entry way of any kind.

  18. Call your local police dept. Probably not. Parking is usually allowed on roadways, as long as it does not block access to homes/driveways or roads.
