  1. Your friend's dad is a 'she'?  Strange people you know here.

    You were given a car, and now you're complaining because they aren't going fast enough to suit you?  tell you what, tell them you don't want to wait any longer, so they should give the car to someone else.  That will show them!

  2. No.  The title is a certificate of ownership so only the owner can do apply for it.

    But you can get all the form, etc. from DMV for them and even fill it out.  Then send it away for them (after then sign it).  It will still arrive at their address, but at least you don't have to wait for them to make time to go to DMV.

    Good Luck...

  3. Yes, You could request a copy of the pink slip but you will have to pay for it too! Besides, you'll need her signature on it anyway so just rush her to get those papers to you filled out and signed. I hope all works well!

  4. If the dad gave you the car and the signed off title, you simply go to the DMV and transfer ownership over to you. The friend should have nothing to do with the matter, unless she is on the title as an owner, or she has been given authority by the courts to sign for her dad. If the dad gave you the car, state that, do not say he sold it to you for a buck. It really messes things up when people do that, it is okay to have a car gifted to you, under most circumstances.

  5. depending on the state that you live in you can  Download, printout, and complete the Application for Duplicate Title Form. Keep in mind, though, that the true/legal owner must sign the form and have it notarized.

    When filling out the application do not forget to include:

        * Owner's full name.

        * Owner's current address.

        * Owner's driver license number.

        * Vehicle's license plate number.

        * Signature to the statement of facts about what happened to the title.

        * Damaged title, if applicable.

    here's the one for California....     http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg227.p...

    Your state may be different, Go to your local DMV website to get a copy of a lost pink slip/ title application, and YOU WILL need to get the signature of the registered owner.
