  1. Depends on a number of issues.

When is the ticket valid. Has any part been used. Is it more than 7 days since purchase. Reason for refund.

You must go back to the origin station to start the refund procedure, there is normally a £10 administration charge to pay. Then forms to fill in which the clerk will assist you with.

If the refund is a season ticket refund or partial refund then a calculation will be made as to part used+free entitlement of travel-fare paid-admin charge. Normally a clerk will tell you if the reason or sum is ok and worth your while in refunding, otherwise take a company form and send it to the companies customer help desk for further consideration.

Dont expect an automatic refund there and then. Each station and company has a floor limt a clerk can authorise for refund, normally about £50 if it is greater then it will go to the area chief clerk who would have a higher floor limt they could authorise, if it is greater than that it goes to the Area Manager and finally to Head Office Accounts if over a few thousand pounds. The money will be paid back to yourself in the original form of payment, cash for cash, card for card, cheque for cheque and if paid via a warrant then issued back to the issuing agent.

If the clerk can not authorise a repayment at once due to floor limit then expect the payment to be ready within a 28 day window and obviously if paid back to card or cheque a little longer for processing of accounts through clearing banks.

    Hope this all helps.

  2. Go to your ticket office and find out if they can do it there if not they will give you a form to fill out that you can send to the Train Operating Companies head office.

  3. just go on a diffrent day....

  4. it just depends on the reason.

if the train was delayed and you had to catch another train, and paid a seperate fare then you can get a refund.

Try the national rail web site and they may be able to help.

  5. I will bet the train company has a phone or two--call them and ask
