so i recently well.. not recently but gotten a ticket for underage consumption and altogether it was 330 dollars.

when it was due i had to go to court to get an extension because i did not have enough money because i just got out of school and had no job.

now its the due date again.. and again i have no money. i had a job but i also had to pay off student loans, and my credit card. i don't have enough money to pay it all off but i was thinking of going to the judge tomorrow, pay some of it and pay the rest at a later date.

is that possible in IL?

esp.Logan County

  1. It is best to pay on your fine..$20 here ..$40 there..the more you put it off..it will come back to haunt you..As long as you try to pay on it..Just talk to the judge and let him know your trying..

But make sure you actually try..Judges want to see proof..not excuses...You made the mistake..and now it is time to grow up and act like a adult..As an adult this will go on your record.

Dont be a clone and mess up your life by drinking..

Be better then all your peers..

  2. What you're asking for is an extension of your case before the court in order to get enough money to pay for your fines.

When you appear before the judge again, you need to explain to him/her just as you've done here...that you're inundated with student loan payments etc.

Being able to put SOMETHING towards your fine helps you more than not putting anything forward.

As long as you can show the judge you are trying to work with the court....the court should provide you with another "continuation" until your fines are paid off!

  3. I am willing to bet the court will have the correct answer, unlike on here where nobody really knows yet people will offer you erroneous and stupid answers. What people on here say is irrelevant. The only relevant facts are what the court policy is and what the court says.

If you want the answer, call the court. Unless of course the judge is on here for some reason.

  4. --- It is possible if the judge decides to allow it. You might even be able to arrange it through the clerk of courts if you go in to them early enough. Sometimes the clerk of courts office can set up a payment plan and extend it if they have a system set up that way through their judges. If they don't then you will have to go into court and explain your case to the judge and ask for an extension with a payment plan.

--- If he thinks you have been playing games rather than paying off your obligation he might send you straight to jail. Have you been making ANY payments? If you haven't made any payments towards it then you are gonna be on the hot seat when you beg for more time. You better have a damned good explanation why you decided your obligation to others was more important than the one you had to him.
